Baked Macaroni And Cheese Ingredients

For the Baked Macaroni Sauce
  • 1 pack elbow macaroni, cooked 5 minutes less than the package instructions
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced 
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, cut into small cubes
  • 1 medium red bell pepper, cut into small cubes
  • 3 pieces hotdogs, cut diagonally
  • 3 cups tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup tomato ketchup
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • salt and pepper
For the Baked Macaroni Cheese Topping
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, cubed
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • salt and pepper
Saute garlic and onions in oil over medium heat.
Add the ground meat and cook until brown.
Add the hotdogs and cook for another 5 minutes.
Add the sugar, salt, and pepper.  Mix well.
Add ketchup and tomato paste.  Stir well.
Add in the tomato sauce.  Simmer for 15 minutes.

Mix in the bell peppers.
Toss in the cooked elbow macaroni.
Pour in a rectangular baking dish.  Set aside to cool.
Melt the butter in a skillet.
Add the flour a little bit at a time.
Add the milk and stir well to remove any lumps.
Add the cheddar cheese, salt, pepper, and ground nutmeg.

Stir well until cheese melts.
Pour white sauce over the meat mixture.
Place inside the preheated oven.
Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes or until the cheese topping is bubbly.
Allow Baked Macaroni and Cheese to cool off before cutting into serving sizes.
Sprinkle Baked Macaroni and Cheese Recipe with Parmesan Cheese.  Serve with garlic bread.
